David Bowie was an English singer, songwriter and an actor. He featured in the cult film The Man Who Fell to Earth which was directed by Nicolas Roeg.

Bowie also acted and continued his acting with his roles in Merry Christmas, Mr. Lawrence, Pontius Pilate, The Last Temptation of Christ and The Prestige.

Early Life and Education

David Bowie was born on 8 January 1947 in South London, England. His parents were Margaret Mary and Haywood Stenton. He lived with his family in southern London but after some years he shifted to the suburb of Bromley. He belongs to English nationality and holds Caucasian ethnicity.

Bowie joined Stockwell School until he was six years and then attended Burnt Ash Junior School. From his childhood days, he was interested in singing and his voice was appreciated by his families and teachers. 

Bowie studied Layout and Typesetting including art, music, and design. He learned music from a local musician and received a serious injury at school when his friend punched him in the left eye during a fight over a girl.


When Bowie was 15 years old he formed his band and started making his career in the field of singing. He even danced as well and met a dancer Lindsay Kemp in his dance class at the London Dance Centre. 

Bowie launched his Ziggy Stardust stage show at the Toby Jug pub in Tolworth which was able to gain a huge popularity. He contributed backing vocals co-starring with Mick Ronson. His Aladdin Sane topped the UK chart and was able to be the first number one album he ever made.

Bowie shelved his solo career to the relative anonymity of band membership for the first time during the 1970s. He also began to work with the famous guitarist Reeves Gabrels. He dominated both in songwriting a decision making although he intended Tin Machine to operate as a democracy.

Bowie also began his acting career after his commercial breakthrough as a musician. He studied Avant-garde theater and mime under Lindsay Kemp. He was also a painter and an artist where he was invited to join the editorial board of the journal Modern Painters during 1998.

Personal Life

One of the most popular singer Bowie married Mary Angela Barnett at Bromley register office in London. Mary Angela confirmed she had a threesome the night they got married. They both have a son together named Duncan who was born on 30 May 1971. His son was first known as Zowie. But they were not capable of spending their happy married life as they had a divorce in Switzerland.

Bowie again married Somali-American model Iman in a private ceremony. They both have a daughter together Alexandria Lexi Zahra Jones who was born n August 2000.

Bowie and his wife resided primarily in New York City. He has a grandson from his first child Duncan who was born exactly six months before his death. He was found dead at the age of 69 years in the year 2016.
