Earlier, he played for the clubs like Middlesbrough, Espanyol, Reggina, and Levante. As of 2018, he represented the Uruguay National Team in the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

Club Career
Stuani Curbelo began his football career in 2004, joining Danubio Football Club. He remained in the club for almost 4 years with 36 appearances scoring 23 goals. In 2005, he went to Bella Vista on loan in the Uruguayan Segunda Division.
In the 2007 Apertura with Danubio, Stuani scored 19 goals and in January 2008, he switched to Reggina in Italy. He made his official debut with the team on the 12th August 2008 playing half hour in the draw against Empoli. In 2008-09, he scored only one goal.
On 31 July 2009, Stuani joined Albacete on loan in the Segunda Division. He completed the season with 22 goals in total 39 games involving hat-tricks in wins against Cordoba and Castellon. He then moved to the La Liga club Levante UD in 2010 where he mostly played as a backup and scored 8 goals. Furthermore, he signed a four-year contract with Espanyol on 28 August 2012. He was in the club for two years appearing in 71 games and scoring 18 goals.
Stuani then joined Middlesbrough on 15 July 2015 and made his debut in the Football League Championship on 9 August. On 29 August 2015, he scored his first goal in League in a 3-1 win at Sheffield Wednesday Club.
He then joined Girona on 21 July 2017 and made his first appearance on 19 August of the following year scoring a two in a 2-2 draw against Atletico Madrid.
International Career
Uruguayan footballer Cristhain Stuani made his senior debut for his country's national team on 14 November 2012, in a friendly match against Poland. He scored his first International goal in the 2014 FIFA World Cup in a 2-0 home success against Colombia on 10 September 2012.
As of 2018, he was included in the final 23-man squad in the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia along with his teammates Edinson Cavani, Diego Godin and Luis Suarez.
