Christopher Velez is an American-Ecuadorian pop singer who is currently a pivotal part of the popular boy band CNCO, formed through the reality competition show La Banda. His real limelight came when he became the first ever winner of the Spanish-language singing competition La Banda in 2015. In 2016, the group released their first album titled Primera Cita and their first single Reggaetón Lento (Bailemos) went viral receiving more than a billion views on YouTube.

Christopher Velez was born on November 23, 1995, in New Jersey, United States of America but he spent most of his early days in Loja, Ecuador, until he was 18 years old. He is the son of Leonardo Velez and Yenny Paulina Munoz Jaramillo. He has also a brother named Jonathan Velez. Velez graduated from La Salle school.
Velez relocated to the U.S at the age of 18 to support his family. He had a plan to move to another country to study music but due to his poor financial condition, he stayed in the states. He had a very tough childhood. He once used to shine shoes to make money to pay the rent for his family.
Despite all the struggles, Velez did not give up. To keep his interest in music alive, Velez used to post covers and music to his self-titled YouTube channel.

The biggest turning point of his career came when he got a chance to audition for a new show called La Banda co-created by Simon Cowell and Ricky Martin. And from there his career in music began. Christopher Velez's distinctive and beautiful voice made him a favorite among the audience and he finally became the first winner of the reality show on 15 Dec 2015.
Velez later signed a five-year contract with Sony Music Latin. He is also a prominent member of the male music group CNCO. The name of the group was inspired by the Spanish word ‘Cinco’ which means ‘five.’ Joel Pimentel, Richard Camacho, Erick Brian Colon, and Zabdiel de Jesús are the other members of the band.
They released their debut album Primera Cita in August 2016. Their one of the most successful singles Reggaeton Lento (Bailemos) peaked on number 6 on the ‘Hot Latin Songs’ and number 11 in ‘Billboards Bubbling Under Hot 100.’
On October 20, 2017, the group released their next single called Mamita and on April 6, 2018, they released their second album titled CNCO.
