Boseman Chadwick was born Chadwick Aaron Boseman on November 29, 1976, in Anderson, South Carolina of United States. He is an American by nationality belonging to the African-American ethnicity.

Boseman grew up in the city of Anderson. He is the son of Carolyn Boseman (his mother) and Leroy Boseman (his father). His father owns an upholstery business whereas his mother is a nurse.

Boseman attended T.L. Hanna High School and graduated from high school in 1995. He then joined Howard University in Washington DC. He graduated from the University with a bachelor's degree in fine arts keeping major direction in 2000.

Boseman also completed drama training from the British American Drama Academy in Oxford. He served as the drama instructor in the Schomburg Junior Scholars Program, housed at the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture in Harlem, New York.
