Cedric Benson, who grabbed a huge attention as a Texas Longhorn “legend,” is no more! He pa s sed away on Saturday night, 18th August, in a tragic motorcycle crash. He was only 36 years old.

As per Austin Police, a minivan was trying to cross an intersection when it ran into Cedric’s motorcycle. Both Cedric and a woman died at the scene.

On Sunday, the Chicago Bears tweeted to offer condolences to Cedric’s family and friends. They tweeted: Our condolences to the friends and family of former Bears running back Cedric Benson, our 4th overall Draft pick in 2005 and member of the 2006 NFC Champions team.

The University of Texas football team also tweeted: Very sad day with the pa s sing of Longhorn Legend Cedric Benson. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends and our community of lettermen. He will be missed.

Coach Jim Anderson also reported that he’s mourning Cedric’s death. He wrote:

He was a good man. He was one of my guys and it hurts. Life is too short.

Cedric uploaded a picture of a motorcycle on his Instagram hours before he met the accident. He captioned the photo writing My Saturday evening with many hearts emojis.

Cedric rushed for over 1000 years in his four seasons at Texas becoming the 9th leading rusher in college football history.

Cedric won the Doak Walker Award; the award that is given to the nation’s top running back.

His college coach, Mack Brown, has always mentioned him as one of his and everyone’s favorites.

Cedric has played for around eight years in the NFL.
