The writer and actor Bashir Salahuddin was born on June 30, 1976, in Chicago, Illinois, US. He belongs of American nationality and regarding his ethnicity; he is a Black American. He spent most of his early childhood days in his hometown Chicago with his seven siblings.
He graduated from Whitney M. Young High School on Chicago's west side. At the time, he met fellow writer Diallo Riddle. They together started their production company Paper Planes.

Following his graduation, Salahuddin went on to work as a paralegal in Chicago. And then he moved to work in the entertainment industry in Los Angeles. He became the title song vocalist for the 2003 comedy film The Hebrew Hammer.

Salahuddin produced the half-hour comedy series Brothers in Atlanta along with Diallo Riddle. However, due to some reason, the series got canceled back in 2016. Similarly, he appeared as the male lead, in the Hulu pilot comedy, Crushed.
In the same year, Salahuddin appeared in the television variety show Maya & Marty, which aired on May 31, on NBC. The following year, he played the recurring character of Keith Bang, in the comedy TV series GLOW.
