Aspiring Actress Helen McDonald Phalon Died After Being Dragged Onto The Subway By A Train
- Actress Helen McDonald Phalon died at an early age of 21.
- She died in the early hours of Saturday, 20th April after she was dragged onto the subway by a train.
- Her mother Ann McDonald told Helen relocated to New York City from South Carolina in order to pursue an acting career.
- She had been working at ThinkGeek in Manhattan at the time of her death which also expressed its sorrow on her death.
A young aspiring actress, Helen McDonald Phalon was killed by a subway train early Saturday morning. NYPD is still investigating the death of the actress, 21.
Authorities reported the actress died at around 3 on Saturday morning after she was hit and dragged by a southbound No. 6 subway train at the Union Square station in Manhattan.
NYPD further reported McDonald might have her clothes of body parts caught by the train as it pulled into the station. CCTV footage obtained by the police showed the moment when she was dragged into the platform before being pulled onto the tracks where she was killed.
The Metro Transit Authority cut power to the tracks as the first responders tried to save Phalon from the fatal accident. Later, she was pronounced dead at the scene. After the preliminary investigation, the NYPD released an emailed statement that read:
preliminary investigation indicates [Phalon's death was] accidental, however, the investigation is ongoing.
Helen's mother, Ann McDonald told the WSJ that her daughter had moved to New York City from her home South Carolina pursuing her acting dreams. Ms. McDonald told,
She was an amazing, beautiful light, and I'm devastated.
Helen had been working at ThinkGeek in Manhattan at the time of her death. Some of her fellow workers mourned her death on ThinkGeek's Facebook page which also promoted a GoFundMe account for Helen's family on Sunday, 21st April.
The incident comes around two months after a 39-year-old man died in a subway in the same manner. Then, he was dragged by a subway train into a tunnel at Grand Central Terminal in Manhattan.
