Arthur Boka

Arthur Boka is an Ivorian football player. His full name is Etienne Arthur Boka . He was born on 2 April 1983 in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire. He has already played in two FIFA World Cups and five Africa Cups of Nations between 2006 and 2013. He is known for his lightning pace and one of the best defender in the world. 


Boka started his football career at his homeland club ASEC Abidjan. He joined the club after he was asked to give a trial at the club. He then graduated from the academy and moved to a Belgian club K.S.K. Beveren in 2002. His impressive performances earned his a transfer to the then Ligue 1 club RC Strasbourg in France for the 2004-05 season. Despite of his impressive performances in the Ligue 1, the club was relegated at the end of the 2005-06 season. Due to that, he left the club to join German top-flight club VfB Stuttgart. He is given the name "The African Roberto Carlos" because of his impressive attack minded play from left-back position. In the 2006-07 season, Boka won the Bundesliga title with VfB Stuttgart. the VfB on January 2009, he extended his contract at the at VfB Stuttgart club until the summer of 2012. He again, on 30 May 2012 signed a new one-year contract for the same club. Boka used to play as a left back but in the middle of 2012-13 Bundesliga season, he began playing as a defensive midfielder and as a Defender. On 1 May 2014, Boka agreed a transfer to Spanish La Liga Malaga CF for a two-year contract at the Costa del Sol. 

As an international career, he has featured in 72 games for the national team, has scored one goal and was the part of the national team upto 2006 World Cup. He played all three group games the Elephants, where he performed impressively, gaining one a s sist. He was also called up to the 2010 World Cup, where he played the final group match against North Korea gaining two a s sists. He also represented Côte d'Ivoire in the 2006 Africa Cup of Nations and was also part of the Ivorian squad at the 2008 Africa Cup of Nations in Ghana. Boka was also called up for the 2010 Africa Cup of Nations, the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations and the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations.

While he was a s sociated with the K.S.K. Beveren club, the team was the runner-up of the Belgian Cup for the season 2003-04. He was also part of the League Cup Winner in 2005 when he was playing for the RC Strasbourg. For the season 2006-07, VfB Stuttgart won the Bundesliga Cup and he was the part of that team. They were also the DFB-Pokal runner-up for the season 2006-07 and 2012-13. With the Côte d'Ivoire team, they were the Africa Cup of Nations runner-up for the year 2006 and 2010.
