Andy García is a popular Cuban American actor and director who debuted in films in 1983 in the baseball film Blue Skies Again. He got his breakthrough in the blockbuster film The Untouchables, where he played the role of Agent George Stone/Giuseppe Petri. His other works like  The Godfather Part III, Internal Affairs, and When a Man Loves a Woman are also thoroughly popular.

Early Life Of Andy García 

Andy García was born Andrés Arturo García Menéndezon April 12, 1956, in Havana, Cuba to Amelie Menéndez and René García Núñez. His mother was an English teacher, and his father was an avocado farmer and attorney in Cuba who later owned a fragrance business in the US. He was raised along with his two elder siblings, a sister, Tessi García, and René García, who is a brother. He was raised a Roman Catholic. 

At age 5, García moved to Miami, Florida, along with his family. He attended  Miami Beach Senior High School and played on the basketball team. During his last year in high school, he suffered from mononucleosis which led García to pursue an acting career.

García took an acting class in his senior year at Miami Beach. He graduated from Florida International University.

Andy García's Career

Andy García started his acting career in 1983 in the baseball film Blue Skies Again as Ken. Then he appeared in several films in minor roles like GuaguasiA Night in HeavenThe Lonely Guy, and 8 Million Ways to Die. He got his breakthrough in 1987 in the American gangster film, The Untouchables, where he played the role of Agent George Stone/Giuseppe Petri. 

The success of  The Untouchables opened doors in Hollywood. In 1989 he appeared in Francis Ford Coppola's directorial venture,  The Godfather Part III as  Vincent Mancini. His role earned him an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor. 

Some of his notable work includes Hero (1992), When a Man Loves a Woman (1994), Things to Do in Denver When You're Dead (1995), Night Falls on Manhattan (1997), Desperate Measures (1997), Hoodlum (1998),  Ocean's Twelve (2004),  and Ocean's Thirteen (2007).

In 2000, García appeared in the critically acclaimed TV series, For Love or Country: The Arturo Sandoval Story. His performance in the series won a million hearts and nominations for several prestigious awards. He enrolled in the direction as well as debuted in Hemingway & Fuentes

In 1997, he won Nosotros Golden Eagle Awards. Similarly, in 2006, he was honored with the "Anthony Quinn Award for Achievement in Motion Pictures" at ALMA Awards

Andy Is A Millionaire

Andy García is one of the most successful Hollywood stars. He has an estimated net worth of $20 million. He earned more than $1 million from movies and around $700 thousand from TV series. 

In January 2018, he bought a Cadillac which cost around $60 thousand. The same month, he purchased a lavish house in Miami, Florida, at $3 million.

Andy García's Personal Life

Andy Garcia is married; he tied the knot with his longtime producer girlfriend, Maria Victoria, on September 24, 1982. He married Maria during the initial period of his acting career, and he gives credit for his successful movie career to his wife.

The duo is blessed with four children, Dominik García-Lorido (born in 1983), an actress, Daniella Garcia (born 1988),  Alessandra Garcia (b. 1991), and son Andres Garcia (b. 2002).

Garcia is very protective of his family's privacy which might be why he prefers to keep his private life away from the limelight. As of now, he lives with his wife and children in Toluca Lake, California.

In 1995, Garcia was chosen as one of the 100 Sexiest Stars in film history by Empire Magazine. During the initial days of his career, he was forced to do nude scenes, but he refused the idea. Once, he walked out from the audition when asked to remove his shirt.

Garcia shares a good bonding with actors  Mickey Rourke and George Lopez. He isn't active on any social site. He loves to collect hats and owns 25 conga drums.
