Anderson Hays Cooper, an American journalist/TV personality, and the author is the main anchor of the CNN news show Anderson Cooper 360°. The program is generally broadcast live from New York City and it is broadcast from Washington D.C.  He is a lead correspondent for 60 Minutes- a news magazine TV program broadcast on the CBS TV network. 

He has also hosted his own eponymous syndicated daytime talk show, Anderson LiveFrom 2011-13. Besides, he is openly gay. He came out as gay when same-sex marriage became legal in New York in July 2011. 

Early Life And Education Of Anderson Cooper 

Anderson Cooper was born on June 3, 1967, in New York City, New York, under the birth sign Gemini. He was born to father Wyatt Emory Cooper and mother Gloria Vanderbilt. His parents were writers and designers. 

He grew up in the company of his brothers and sisters and thus had a pretty good childhood. Born into a Christian family, he is an American by nationality and belongs to a white ethnicity.

He was educated at the local Dalton School, which is an independent school along with his siblings.  He was a sports person and his favorite game was basketball, he is a supporter of Chicago Bulls. He played with his school’s team and participated in many competitions.

Winning and losing in many basketball games, he was also very active in debates and speaking platforms. Upon graduating at just 17 years of age, he decided to travel around Africa what was like a survival trip, on his own.

Later he was admitted to a hospital in Kenya when he suffered from malaria, making Africa one of his nightmares. He returned to the states and joined Yale University, where he graduated in 1989 with a Bachelors In political science.

Anderson Cooper's Career

Anderson Cooper started his journalism career upon graduating from the Yale University in 1989. He first worked as a fact checker for Channel One, which produces news segments to be broadcast in schools throughout the country.

Then, he took a video camera with him to Southeast Asia, and his footage of strife in Myanmar and parts of Africa eventually became the job of chief international correspondent for Channel One.

In 1995, he joined as a news correspondent and then a co-anchor of World News Now. He hosted five years and started hosting a new reality show, The Mole in 2000. The next year, he was hired by CNN and a s signed him as a substitute anchor for CNN abroad.

 In 2003, he started hosting his own news show Anderson Cooper 360°, a show has examined the world’s major stories for more than a decade.

He has covered several events such as Hurricane Katrina, the death of Pope John Paul II and the Boston Marathon Bombing.

 In 2006, he began an ongoing affiliation with CBS’s 60 Minutes, a newsmagazine TV program broadcast on the CBS TV. Currently, he is running season 50 of 60 Minutes.

Anderson Cooper's Personal Life 

Anderson Cooper is a fairly handsome man, of average height and athletic, built. He has got short blonde hair and his eyes are shiny blue in color. He seems to be a health conscious person who works out regularly at the gym. In a job that demands him to look fit and presentable at all times, he has been doing pretty well so far.

It seems like he is a tattoo crazy and he had got lots of tattoos on both of his arms, which he covers mostly while on TV. He is also a very comfortable character, joking and laughing at all times. Regarding his sexual orientation, he is a gay and came out openly about it some time ago.

He was regarded as the "the most prominent openly gay journalist on American television", by The New York Times. He is currently in a relationship with his partner Benjamin Maisani, whom he has been dating since 2009. He considers to get married as the same-sex marriage is already legal in the US.

Starting out in a small role as a TV anchor, he has made his way to the very top now. He has been in many TV appearances and covered a lot of news and interviews.
