The lovebirds got engaged after a nearly one-decade long relationship. The American athlete who first met during 2010 got connected within a few meetings and started dating soon.
Talking to People, Harris, 33 said,
We became really close friends, and we just hung out, we clicked, and we had so much in common.
She continued,
We always sat next to each other on the bus and on flights, and we kind of just talked about our dreams and our hopes and what we wanted to do one day when we grew up. Because at the time, we were kids.
American national goalkeeper and world cup winner, Harris revealed the couple is planning to tie the knot this year. She said,
The rest has kind of been history. Here we are nine years later, and we're going to be getting married this year.
Meanwhile, Krieger, 34, revealed it was Harris' ambition and creativity that first fascinated her. She told,
I find that so attractive, and the way that she makes me a better person. I think that I'm very quiet and reserved. Since being with Ash, I really feel like I've blossomed into the woman that I want to be, and she's helped me become the woman I am.
On September 15, the couple was on a picnic near the rocks of Clearwater Beach, Florida after their season's last game when Harris surprised her girlfriend by asking her to be her wife.
As of now, both the lovebirds play for the Orlando Pride; Harris is a goalkeeper while Krieger plays as a defender. This was the pair's first official revelation of their relationship, though their fans had long picked up on their chemistry together.
