Alexandra Maria Lara is a native Romanian-German actress from Bucharest, Romania residing in Berlin, Germany. She has been in the movie industry since 1997 appearing in the movies like Downfall, Control, Youth Without Youth, The Rust of Time, The Most Beautiful DayGeostorm and has won best German actress in 2005 Golden Camera Awards and the best actress in Milano International Film Festival. Lara has worked in German, English, Polish, British, American-Italian, and Belgium-language films. 

Early Life And Education Of Alexandra Maria Lara

Lara was born to famous actor father Valentin Platareanu and mother Doina on November 12, 1978. The family had initially planned to move to Canada but fled to Germany prior to escape the regime of Nicolae Ceausescu, a Romanian communist politician.  She holds German nationality and belongs to a mixed ethnical background.

Lara attended the Franzosisches Gymnasium Berlin at Germany graduating in 1997. Later on, she studied acting in her father's co-founded institution,  Theaterwerkstatt Charlottenburg which ended in 2000.  

Alexandra Maria Lara's Career

Lara began her acting journey at the age of 16 with lead roles in various television dramas. She has appeared in Academy Award-nominated movie Downfall playing Adolf Hitler's secretary, Traudl Junge. She shared the screen alongside Ulrich Matthes, Juliane Köhler, and Corinna Harfouch

Later on, an American film director Francis Ford Coppola made her a lead in the movie Youth Without Youth in 2007 starring Tim Roth, Marcel Iure?, and Alexandra Pirici

In the same year, she was also cast in control, the biopic of English musician Ian Curtis.  Lara was one of the jury members in the 2008 Cannes Film Festival.  She was cast opposite french-swiss actress Irene Jacob and Swiss actor Bruno Ganz in the movie "The Dust of Time" In her 2013 movie Rush, she was cast alongside Chris Hemsworth, popularly known as Thor, a Marvel comics superhero, and Daniel Bruhl.

She acted out in various French and German movies out of which her German movies like The Reader and Der Baader Meinhof Komplex got nominated in the 81st Academy Awards. Some of her other popular works include Mensch, Pia!, Tatort, Polizeiruf, Der Tunnel, The CompanyNaked, Doctor Zhivago, Der Untergang, Offset, Youth without Youth, Imagine, The Most Beautiful day, Vier Gegen die Bank, Geostorm and many more. 

Alexandra Maria Lara's Awards and Honors

Lara's movie Der geilste Tag and Rubbeldiekatz were nominated for the best national film in Bambi Awards but luckily her movie Der Untergang managed to win the respective title.  She won Best German Actress in 2005 at the Golden Camera awards in Germany and a year later won the best actress in Milano International Film Festival Awards(MIFF Awards). 

At Undine Awards, Austria, she was nominated Best Young Character Actor for Cowgirl and won Best Young Comedian for Vom Suchen und Finden der Liebe. She has been featured in more than five magazines.

Lara's net worth is estimated to be around $2 million but it is not an actual figure. Her movie Downfall made $92.2 million at the box office against its budget $13.5 million. Similarly, her other film Geostorm made a box office collection of $221.6 million. Rush was her 2013 movie which brought in $26 million at the box office. 

Alexandra Maria Lara's Personal Life 

 Alexandra Maria Lara is married to English actor and singer, Sam Riley. The couple first met in 2007, on the set of the movie Control and started dating. They have been married since August 2009 and share a blissful relationship. The pair is blessed with a son named Ben Riley born in 2014.

She loves Coca-cola and said that the drink holds a special place in her heart since Lara's father while in Romania used to buy her the drink and whilst moving to Germany her father said she could drink as much coke as she wanted. Her favorite band is Nike
