During in an Alabama High School Graduation party shooting, one person died, and eight got injured.

The Atmore police responded a call around 2:00 a.m. on early Saturday morning with authorities arriving at former Escambia County Middle School, where a man was found being shot to death in the cafeteria.

The former Escambia County Middle School now serving as city’s community center was the site for a high school high graduation party that involved hundreds of people and alcohol.

As per reports from WKRG, the incident started when two women began fighting, eventually leading others to get involved. AL.com reported numerous gunshots were fired inside the building, and the shooting continued in the building’s parking lot.

Eight people were shot and were immediately taken to the local hospitals for treatment. Till Saturday afternoon, seven of the right injured patients were released from the hospital.

The name and details regarding the injured are yet to be revealed.

No arrests have been made, but the police are searching for at least three suspects being linked to the shooting. They are also working on getting statements from the injured patients who were released from the hospital.

The principal of Escambia County High School, Dennis Fuqua, responded to the incident releasing a statement writing:

It’s always a great day to be a Blue Devil, but yesterday was a day of triumph and tragedy. By day, our seniors experienced the high of obtaining 8.6 million dollars in scholarships, and our varsity football team experienced their first win of the season. Yet, by night we all felt the pangs of tragedy due to the acts of violence that have left several of our past and present students injured.

Ending the statement, he claimed that they all loved their Blue Devil Family and will continue praying for wisdom and healing.
