South African actress, former model, and singer Genevieve Waite, who previously got married to musician John Phillips, is no more with us. She died at the age of 71.
Genevieve’s daughter Bijou Phillips confirmed that her mother died on Saturday. She even announced the news of her death on Instagram.

In a statement, Bijou announced that her mother pa s sed away in her sleep. She explained that her mother was a beautiful soul and was born on another planet.
Bijou went on explaining that Genevieve was a light, a fairy, and a gift of a creature. She claimed that her albums and the lyrics were timeless and smart. She added:
Her mind was poetry and wit, her sense of humor was quick and dry. She was like a child in a way, who was too smart for her own good.
Continuing the statement, Bijou claimed that her father and mother had a beautiful, magical, and heartbreaking life together but created a masterpiece of music. She feels honored to be their child.
Bijou added:
My mother’s role in Joanna was groundbreaking for racial divides… My mother was a gift and I will miss her every day. In everything I cook, and in everything I sing, and in everything I do without her wise guidance.
Bijou also claimed that her brothers and sisters are all grieving, but they feel nice thinking that her late parents are now together dancing around heaven.
As per Bijou, Genevieve was survived by children Tamerlane Phillips, Bijou Phillips, and stepchildren Jeffrey Phillips, Chynna Phillips, and Mackenzie Phillips.
As per reports, Genevieve was married thrice and divorced twice. She was first married to Matthew Reich in 1968 but got divorced later. After divorcing the first husband, she got married John Phillips in 1972.
Genevieve and John had two children together; 39 years old Bijou and son Tamerlane Phillips.
Divorcing her second husband, she got married to Norman Buntainee.
