The 83 years old widow, Irene Mayor, was thrown into the air by the air police motorbike escorting Prince William and Kate Middleton and landed awkwardly.

She was then rushed to the hospital by an ambulance. On Tuesday night, her health condition was reported to be serious but stable with a broken pelvis and other injuries.

The bike that hit the widow was the police outrider clearing traffic in front of the pair’s motorcade as they were heading to Windsor for a Knights of the Garter ceremony.

The witness claimed that the motorbike was going on the wrong side of the road. He furthermore claimed that the bike hit her and she spun round off her feet and fell badly on the floor.

It is also reported that Prince and Kate were devastated when told of the crash. They also did not learn of it until the pair arrived at Windsor.

On Tuesday, the couple sent flowers to Mayor with a handwritten note stating that they are saddened about the news.
