A Virginia woman, Bethany Lynn Stephens, 22, was killed by her dogs while walking them in the woods near home, authorities confirmed on Friday, 15 Dec.
Goochland County Sheriff James L. Agnew said in a conference that Stephens' body was found ''guarded by two very large, brindle-colored pit bull dogs'' Thursday.
ay Stephens' cause of death was ''consistent with being mauled by the dogs.'' Agnew said,
The first traumatic injury to her was to her throat and face. It appears she was taken to the ground, lost consciousness, and the dogs then mauled her to death.
He continued,
It was an absolutely grisly mauling. In my nearly 40 years in law enforcement, I've never seen anything quite like it. I hope I never see anything like it again.
The Sheriff also revealed that the aggressive dogs are currently under Goochland Animal Control and it is looking to have the animal euthanized.
Before, Stephan's father informed the sheriff's office after he found his daughter was missing. He later found the dogs aggressively protecting her body. After the authorities reached the scene, they spent hours in wrangling the dogs. Agnew said each dog weighed as much as Stephans- Stephens weighed 125 pounds and was 5-foot-1-inch.
