At least 15 injured and a baby was killed in a horrifying car accident in Copacabana beach, Rio de Janeiro on Thursday, 18 January at around 8:45 pm (local time).
Authorities said that the driver, Antonio de Almeida Anaquim, 41, had an epileptic seizure who lost control over his driving. The local police have detained the driver, and they are continuing their investigation.

The live television broadcast showed victims receiving emergency medical treatment on the sand and pavement. Eyewitnesses told Globo News Network that the car went over a bicycle path and across the promenade. The car finally came at rest after hitting people and tables and chair of a cafe.
The reports by local media say the anti-seizure medicine was found in Anaquim's car and said he is being tested for alcohol in his blood. A police official confirmed AFP news agency that the accident was not a terrorist attack.
