At Least 50 Killed And Over 600 Injured After A Chemical Plant Explosion In China

At least 50 have died and more than 600 are injured at an explosion at a pesticide plant in eastern China, reported state media on Friday, 22nd March.
According to the Telegraph, the deadly blast occurred on Thursday, 21st March at the Chenjiagang Industrial Park in the city of Yancheng, Jiangsu province.
It took hours for the firefighters before they took the fire under control at around 3 am on Friday morning. Around 640 Injured were taken to 16 different hospitals where 32 of them were critically injured.
Sources reported the fire at the plant spread to neighboring factories which also hit the children at a kindergarten in the vicinity. The cause for the fire and explosion have still being investigated.
Local authorities said the explosion was powerful enough for the seismological bureau to detect a small earthquake in the area.
Nearly 1000 people were evacuated as a precaution against leaks and additional blasts, reported city government.
Meanwhile, President, Xi Jinping, who is in his official Italy visit ordered all-out efforts to care for the injured.
