Young Marathon Runner Died After She Collapsed A Quarter-Mile Before The Touchline
- A marathon runner collapsed to her death during the 42nd Rite Aid Cleveland Marathon on Sunday, 19th May.
- The runner, identified as Taylor Ceepo, was taken to the University Hospital immediately after she fainted about a quarter mile before the touchline.
- Hospital authorities pronounced her dead on arrival.
A 22-year-old marathon runner collapsed to her death during the 42nd annual Rite Aid Cleveland Marathon on Sunday.
The girl, identified as Taylor Ceepo fainted just before the touchline during Sunday morning's race and was immediately taken to University Hospital. Despite the effort, the doctors couldn't save her and announced she died in the emergency room.
Ceepo had just graduated from the Walsh University in North Canton, Ohio. She had completed her high school from Akron's St. Vincent-St. Mary, aka LeBron James' alma mater.
The athletics department of the Walsh University took to their Twitter extending their condolences to her family.
It is with great sadness that our Walsh family has lost one of our own, Taylor Ceepo, too soon.

Amy Malaska, Walsh vice president for student affairs, released a statement writing:
It is my sad duty to inform you that a beloved member of our Walsh family, Ms. Taylor Ceepo, collapsed today while running the Cleveland marathon and has pa s sed away.
The statement continued,
Her mother, dear friends and her boyfriend [also a Walsh student] were with her. Our love and deepest sympathies go to her family and loved ones. Your Walsh family will keep you all in prayer.
The cause for her death is yet to be revealed where specialists suggested runners' death at marathons are unfortunately common for a variety of health issues.
