Errol Barnett

Inside Biography

Errol Barnett was born on 3rd April 1983 in Milton Keynes, England to mother Pamela and father Michael Christie. Errol spent most of his childhood with his older brother, Danny Christie. Later on, Errol’s mother remarried Gary Barnett who was a US Air Force sergeant who served in the Gulf War. Errol later relocated with his family to the city of Phoenix in Arizona.

Barnett attended Garden Lakes Elementary School and later, after relocating to Arizona, he shifted to Westview High School. He went on to join the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). While in UCLA, Errol was a member of the business fraternity Alpha Kappa Psi and also worked as a correspondent and host on a movie-centric cable network channel Reelz Channel. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science with a focus on international relations in 2008. Errol was highly interested in journalism and in no time was hired by Channel One News and relocated to Los Angeles.

While he was 18 years of age, in 2001, Errol began working for Channel One News as an anchor/reporter. He became the Channel’s youngest anchor. Barnett went on to work really well and brought many coverages into his bag of success. He went on to cover Barack Obama's keynote speech at the 2004 Democratic National Convention, also the attacks on 11 September 2001. Later in 2006, Errol left Channel One News after being accepted to UCLA to finish his undergraduate studies. Luckily, after graduation in July 2008, CNN International hired him as an anchor and correspondent. During his first few years, Errol went on to report on the rise in power of social media sites like Facebook and Twitter and also anchored ‘World Report’ and 'iReport for CNN'. During the U.S. President Obama's Inauguration on CNN.com, Errol became a part of the most viewed streaming-video event in history.

While he was based at CNN's bureau in Johannesburg, South Africa, Errol went on to cover the death of President Nelson Mandela, the Oscar Pistorius murder trial, and the 50th anniversary of the African Union's founding as well. While he was based in Atlanta, Georgia, for CNN, Barnett covered the Ferguson, Missouri protests, the death of Robin Williams, and the search for MH370 more recently.

Errol is currently in a relationship with Nyasha Zimucha. Nyasha is an African TV personality, singer, dancer, and professional model. She was born in South Africa and raised in America. Nyasha is well known for having participated in the 2008 Miss Africa and for her work in The A-List: New York, Little Miss Perfect, and Fashion New Line. There are rumors that Errol is engaged to his girlfriend Nyasha which removes the other rumor about him being gay. Errol does not have any children to date.

Barnett is currently 32 years old and has been noted for a lot of his work. For having done such great work at such young age, Barnett became listed as one of the 20 Teens Who Will Change The World in the Teen People magazine. In May 2013, Errol was profiled in GQ South Africa. He has a healthy Net Worth.
