Synopsis

Forty-four years old Thomas Albert Roberts is an Emmy Award-winning American television journalist, who since April 2010, has worked as a news anchor for MSNBC, a cable news. He also serves as a fill-in host on NBC’s TODAY and was formerly the host of MSNBC’s To Earl.

Thomas Roberts was born on October 5, 1972, in Towson, Maryland, United State of America. Thomas belongs to American nationality and his ethnicity is white.

Early life and Education

Robert spent his wonderful childhood in a Roman Catholic family in Towson, Maryland. He is the son of Michelle Roberts, is an Australian politician, and has been a Labor Party member of the Legislative Assembly of Western Australia and Albert Roberts.

During his childhood, Thomas Roberts attended Catholic school. After that, he moved Calvert Hall College High School for graduating. In 1994, he attended Western Maryland College, where he completed his graduation with a major in communication and a minor in journalism.

Professional career

Moving to his professional career, Thomas Roberts first began his job for a small cable station in Westminster. After that, he moved to San Diego, California, where he worked as a writer and producer for NBC affiliate KNSD. At the end of 2001, he moved CNN, a cable news channel that was based in Atlanta, Georgia.

Thomas Roberts was honored with an Emmy Award nomination in 2002 for his investigation into a local puppy mill. On May 1, 2007, he resigned from CNN to pursue new journalism chance in the Entertainment Tonight and The Insider. Then he was a correspondent for CBS News in LA, covering aspects of the trial of Conrad Murray.

Thomas Roberts started freelance anchoring for MSNBC in New York City in late April 2010.

Thomas Roberts also anchored MSNBC Live with Thomas Robert. He is also a fill-in news anchor on the weekday and weekend of Today. He also appeared at the end of the Marvel film ‘The Avengers’  He became the first openly gay evening news anchor on network television in July 2015, when he anchored NBC Nightly News for a day.

Personal life and Affair

Moving to his personal life, Thomas Roberts is a gay. He first announced of being gay in 2006 and became the first national TV anchor to reveal the news of h 0sexuality while working for CNN.

Thomas Roberts was in relationship with his gay partner Patrick Abner for 12 years and he got married to him in the fall of 2012. The wedding took place at the Gansevoort Park Hotel in Manhattan. The wedding was officiated by retired San Francisco Mayor and current Lt. Governor of California Gavin Newsom. There was also the presence of Tamron Hall, Phil Griffin, and Chris Jansing.
