Susanna Hoffs is an American vocalist, guitarist, actress, and songwriter. She is famously known for being the co-founder of The Bangles. Hoffs is also well known for her role in the comedy film Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery and it's two sequels. The singer has released several solo albums such as When You're A Boy and Someday.

Susanna Hoffs was born in Los Angeles, California, on January 17, 1959, to a Jewish family. She is the daughter to Tamar Ruth and Joshua Allen Hoffs. Her mother is a director, writer, and producer while her father is a psychoanalyst. She has two brothers, Jesse Hoffs and John Hoffs.

Hoffs attended Palisades High School in Pacific Palisades, Los Angele, where she graduated in 1976. Following her graduation, she started working as a production a s sistant.

Hoffs later graduated with a bachelor's in art from the University of California, Berkeley in 1980.

While in the University, she attended the final Sex Pistols show at Winterland Ballroom. She had also attended and a concert by Patti Smith at the time.

Co-Founder of The Bangs

Susanna Hoffs founded a punk band, The Bangs, with her mates Debbi Peterson and Vicki Peterson. The Ramones and other punk bands were the major inspiration of Hoffs.

The music band, The Bangs first released their album titled The Night Before It Was Pa s sed. Later, they changed their band named into The Bangles after a legal claim by an East Coast boy band.

Career With 'The Bangles'

In 1984, The Bangles released their first full album titled All Over the Place on Columbia Records. One of the early commercial breakout albums of the band is Different Light which was released in 1986. It had hit singles like Manic Monday, If She Knew What She Wants, and Walk Like an Egyptian.

The Bangles released their third album titled Everything in 1988. In the same year, the band had released a single 'In Your Room' which was written by Hoffs. The single eventually became a top 10 hit.

Sadly, The Bangles got disbanded in 1989 with some misunderstanding, but one year later, they reunited.

The band then recorded another single titled Get the Girl. Furthermore, the band released their fourth album titled Doll Revolution in 2003.

Acting Career

Susanna Hoffs made her acting debut in 1978 Andrew Davis directorial film Stony Island. Her other early projects are The Haircut and The Allnighter.

In 1997, Hoffs starred in Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery alongside Elizabeth Hurley and Mimi Rogers. She reprised her role in its sequels The Spy Who Shagged Me and Austin Powers in Goldmember.

Hoffs also appeared in the television series Comedy Bang! Bang! in 2012.
