Carrington spent most of his early days growing up in her hometown Longview along with his parents. He graduated from the Kilgore College.
Carrington has been active in the entertainment industry since 1998. He started his career working as a comedian in local venues. He also worked for radio program The Bob & Tom Snow.
Carrington started doing comedy while at college and added guitar into his act upon the suggestion of a club owner. Rodney released his first album Hangin’ with Rodney in 1998 which is a mix of stand-up comedy and country music. And from the album, he released his first single called Letter to My Penis which peaked at No. 73 on Top Country Albums.
Carrington later went to Capitol Nashville to release his second album Morning Wood in 2000. The album became his first Top 20 album. Nut Sack is his third album released in 2003 and it included the single "Don't Look Now" which peaked No. 60.
Carrington released King of the Mountains in the year 2007. He other albums include El Nino Loco in 2009 and Laughter’s Good released in 2014.
Along with comedy music, Rodney Carrington also had his own television show called Rodney on ABC that ran from 2004 to 2006. He also acted in a feature film Beer for my Horses alongside Toby Keith.
