Irish actress, Orla Brady is best known for playing the role of  Elizabeth Bishop on the science fiction TV drama, Fringe produced by JJ AbramsBrady debuted in acting in 1991 but rose to fame after 1994 when she starred in the film, Words Upon the Window Pane. Her other popular works include The Luzhin Defence32A, The ForeignerOut of the Blue, Noah's Ark, and Chris Ryan's Strike Back.   

Early Life And Education Of Orla Brady 

Orla Brady was born on March 28, 1961, in Dublin, Ireland to Patrick Brady and Catherine (Kitty) Brady. She is the second of four children and was raised in  Bray, County Wicklow, Ireland. 

Brady attended Loreto Convent in Wicklow. Then she joined  Ursuline Convent in Dublin. She moved to Paris at the age of 25 and studied at L'École Philippe Gaulier, securing a place at Marcel Marceau's École Internationale de Mimodrame de Paris.      

Orla Brady's Career

Orla Brady started her acting career with Balloonatics Theatre Company where she toured at the productions of Hamlet and Finnegans Wake. Then she returned to Dublin to worked at Gate Theatre.

After moving to London, she started working on both Irish and British located theatre, television, and film.

In 1991, Brady won the Golden Nymph Best Actress Award at the Monte-Carlo Television Festival for her performance in RTÉ/BBC co-production A Love Divided. She started her TV career in 1993 in Minder making an uncredited appearance. After a year she debuted in films in Words Upon the Window Pane.  

In 1997, she grabbed her first leading role of Clare Somers in British television series, Noah’s Ark, along with Anton Rodgers, Peter Wingfield, Angela Thorne, and others. She also appeared as Noaise O’Neill in American television drama, Family Law.

In 2005, Brady portrayed the character of Atia Blba Caesonia in an episode of American historical television series, Empire. She also played Elizabeth Bishop in American science fiction television series, Fringe from 2010 to 2012.                 

Brady also worked in numerous movies, The Luzhin Defence (2000), Last Night (2006), Wayland's Song (2013), and others. She also acted in several TV series, The Vicar of Dibley (1996), The Magical Legend of the Leprechauns (1999), Jesse Stone: Death in Paradise (2006), and many more.

As of 2018, she has been playing in American television series, Into the Badlands in the leading role of Lydia since 2015. She shares the screen with Sarah Bolger, Aramis Knight, Emily Beecham, and others.

Orla Brady's Personal Life 

Orla Brady is married to popular English photographer, Nick Brandt. Nick is known for his disappearing natural world theme.   

The couple first met in Los Angeles in 2001, and a year later they tied the knot in December at the Chyulu Hills of Kenya. As of 2018, they reside in the mountains of southern California.
