Grammy-winning Singer Ne Yo Getting Divorce From Wife of Four Years, Crystal Renay
- Singer and songwriter Ne Yo split from his wife Crystal Renay nearly four years after their marriage.
- Yo revealed he and his wife have split during his appearance in an episode of Private Talk with Alexis Texas.
- The ex-lovebirds, who got married in February 2016, are parents to two children, sons Shaffer Chimere Smith, Jr., and Roman Alexander-Raj Smith.
- Ne Yo also has two children, a son, and a daughter, with his ex-partner Monyetta Shaw.
Singer and songwriter Ne Yo split from his wife of nearly four years, Crystal Renay. The 40-year-old Sexy Love singer revealed he and Renay are no more together during his appearance on Private Talk with Alexis Texas.
Ne-Yo, whose real name is Shaffer Chimere Smith, also revealed that the ex-couple is in the process of filing for a divorce. "It's slowly but surely becoming public knowledge that myself and my wife have decided to go ahead and get a divorce," the R&B singer said on the podcast.
He added,
It's not a sad thing, it's more of us realizing-long story short, I'm never gonna talk bad about her. I'm not that person. There's nothing bad to say about her. She's a fantastic woman. She's the mother of my children and she's always gonna be that and I will always respect her.
Ne-Yo continued,
Long story short, she's got demons just like everybody else, just like me. We realize that our demons don't mesh and until both of us get a hold of our personal demons, it's gonna be just difficult for us to stay married.
"Like I said, that's the mother of my kids, and I love her to death. We're going to be family forever," Ne-Yo concluded.
The former World of Dance judge and Renay, a model, had been married since February 20, 2016. The ex-lovebirds first met when Ne-Yo was working on his 2015 album Non-Fiction. Ne-Yo previously said in an interview that they first met at a restaurant where she showed up two hours late. Ne said Renay explained she was late because,
She was just trying to get some info on me: who I was, if it was really going to be a business meeting or if I was some creep.
They started dating around two weeks later, and by September 2015, the pair were already expecting their first child together. While announcing they were expecting their first child together, the Grammy-winner also announced they were engaged. They welcomed their first child, a son, Shaffer Chimere Smith, Jr., nearly a month after their wedding (March 15, 2016).
Ne Yo and Renay gave birth to their second son Roman Alexander-Raj Smith on 14 June 2018.
Besides, Ne Yo has two children from his previous relationship with Monyetta Shaw, a daughter Madilyn Grace, 9, and a son Mason Evan, 8. They started dating in 2009 and broke up four years later in 2013.
