Mutsumi Takahashi is a Japanese- Canadian journalist who is one of the leading news anchors for CFCF-DT News in Quebec, Montreal.

Early life and education

Mutsumi Takahashi was born in Shiroishi, Japan on the 21st of January. She grew up in Canada with her siblings. Mutsumi holds a Canadian nationality.

There is no detail information about her birth year, but regarding her early age, she was born in the mid-1950s. Mutsumi family moved to the United States and later to Canada, where they finally settled.

Mutsumi joined the Concordia University where she graduated with BA in 1979 and later completed her MBA in 1995.


Mutsumi first entered into the TV world in 1980 during her student years, when she hosted a pilot project for her university, a s sociated with CFCF; which is a CTV owned-and-operated television station in Montreal.

Then, Mutsumi landed a role as a news reporter for the channel two years later and worked her way up to feature as a news reader for the “Pulse” telecast; which she co-anchored with legendary Bill Haugland.

After Bill retired in 2006, Mutsumi has been the main woman of the show and now appears in CTV News (name modified), alongside Paul Karwatsky.

In an interview, Mutsumi said

“I was born in Japan, but we moved to the United States when I was young. My Dad was a mathematician and taught at Harvard. After a couple of years there, he had two good opportunities; one at The University of Toronto and the other at the University of Montreal. He chose Montreal, and that’s how I arrived here.” A fact that very few people know about Mutsumi is that she is a music enthusiast and at the age of 6, took piano cla s ses at the Toronto Conservatory of Music. Although, she chose a career quiet different and studied electronic media at the Concordia University. She graduated from there in 1979 and worked for a short time at Concordia Radio Sir George (CRSG), as a student newspaper reporter.
