Early life and education
Mutsumi Takahashi was born in Shiroishi, Japan on the 21st of January. She grew up in Canada with her siblings. Mutsumi holds a Canadian nationality.

Then, Mutsumi landed a role as a news reporter for the channel two years later and worked her way up to feature as a news reader for the Pulse telecast; which she co-anchored with legendary Bill Haugland.
After Bill retired in 2006, Mutsumi has been the main woman of the show and now appears in CTV News (name modified), alongside Paul Karwatsky.

In an interview, Mutsumi said
I was born in Japan, but we moved to the United States when I was young. My Dad was a mathematician and taught at Harvard. After a couple of years there, he had two good opportunities; one at The University of Toronto and the other at the University of Montreal. He chose Montreal, and thats how I arrived here. A fact that very few people know about Mutsumi is that she is a music enthusiast and at the age of 6, took piano cla s ses at the Toronto Conservatory of Music. Although, she chose a career quiet different and studied electronic media at the Concordia University. She graduated from there in 1979 and worked for a short time at Concordia Radio Sir George (CRSG), as a student newspaper reporter.
