After her mother suffered from lupus and diabetes, she decided to develop her second career. Grimes then moved to Atlanta to pursue a career in journalism. She had zero experience in journalism so, she studied journalism and earned a degree from CGB (Complete Game Broadcasting) in Atlanta.
After graduating, Grimes co-hosted a sports-talk radio show on 790 The Zone along with Dennis Scott. She also worked as a host for a sports talk show program on 560-WQAM. She further increased her experience working as a sideline reporter for Clark Atlanta University and Morehouse College. But she quit after getting married.
After her marriage, she had much free time, so, she renewed her love for food. She was more concerned about her mother who is a diabetes patient and her son who is allergic to certain food.
