Early Life And Education Of Mike Seidel 

Mike Seidel was born Michael Philip Seidel on January 18, 1956, in Salisbury, Maryland, United States. He spent most of his early days growing up in her hometown Salisbury, Maryland along with his family. He holds an American nationality and regarding his ethnicity, he is White American. 

Mike attended Wicomico Senior High School. He went to Salisbury State College, Bachelor of Science Mathematics after his high school. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics major from Salisbury State College. He has also done his Master's degree in Meteorology from Pennsylvania State University.

Seidel wrote his master’s thesis under the direction of The Weather Channel’s expert on severe weather: Gregory S. Forbes. When Mike was six he was already started measuring snowfall of Salisbury, Maryland.

Mike Seidel's Professional Career

It was from this early stage of childhood that Mike Seidel knew what he wanted to do in his life. When he installed a weather station on the roof of his house he was only in the eighth grade. During his high School and college years, Mike also worked for four local radio stations: WJDY-AM in Salisbury, WDMV-AM in Pocomoke City, WSUX-FM in Seaford, Delaware and WKHI-FM in Ocean City.

Mike’s Television career began with WMDT- TV in Salisbury, his hometown. During his master’s graduate studies, Mike also appeared on Weather World on the Pennsylvania Public TV network. From 1983 to1989, he worked as a full-time broadcaster at WYFF-TV at Greenville, South Carolina.

Mike returned to his hometown Salisbury in 1989 and worked as the meteorologist for WBOC-TV. He left the network in March 1992 to join The Weather Channel as a meteorologist. On Labor Day weekend in 1996 on Cape Cod, Mike covered his first storm, Hurricane Edouard.

Since the event, Seidel has covered more than fifty tropical storms and hurricanes, many snowstorms, nor’easters and tornado outbreaks. Mike also spent around a decade working as a host from 2002 to 2012 of the National Football League “Kickoff Forecast” segments every Sunday morning from NFL venues.

Seidel has also reported live from several major events includes PGA Tour, the Baseball All-Star Game, the Indianapolis 500 automobile race and the World Series. Mike while at The Weather Channel has appeared on numerous network news programs as NBC-TV’s Today Show and NBC Nightly News, ABC-TV’s Good Morning America, World News Tonight, Nightline and World News Now, CBS-TV’s The Early Show, The CBS Evening News and CBS Sunday Morning.

Mike has also reported live from breaking weather for Fox News Channel and the Cable News Network on MSNBC. During coverage of Tropical Storm Isaac August 24-26, 2012, Mike also became the first Weather Channel and U.S. meteorologist to report live from Cuba, the disaster venue.
