Michelle Waterson is an American mixed martial artist who competes in the Ultimate Fighting Championship. She is best known as the pound-for-pound female MMA fighter in the world and the #1 – ranked Atom weight according to the Unified Women’s and Fight Matrix all by the end of 2013.
Early Life and Education
Michelle Waterson was born on January 6, 1986, in Colorada USA. She belongs to American nationality and her ethnicity is white.
Michelle was born in Colorado, but she spent her childhood in Aurora. She completed her graduation from Aurora Central High School. After graduation, she began her modeling career in 2004. She received a black belt in American Free Style Karate at the age of 10 and has also trained in Wushu, Muay Thai, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Boxing, and wrestling.
Career
Michelle began her career winning the fight against Andrea Miller on February 16, 2007. After winning many fights during 2008-2009, she faced Masako Yoshida at Crowbar MMA on April 24, 2010, and finally won the fight by TKO in the first round. Again on January 21, 2012, she faced Diana Rael and won the fight by rear-naked choke in the first round.
On October 6, 2012, Michelle faced Lacey Schuckman at Invicta FC 3: Penne vs. Sugiyama. After forth rounds, she defeated and was named Fight of the Night. And she successfully defended her championship against Yasuko Tamada on September 6, 2014.
On July 12, 2015, Michelle made her promotional debut against Angela Magana at The Ultimate Fighter 21 Finale, and she won the fight in the third round. After over a year-and-a-half away from the sport due to injuries, she returned to face Paige Vanzant in December 2016. And along with other records, she won this fight in the first round, and she earned her first Performance of the Night bonus award.
Michelle is expected to face Rose Namajunas on April 15, 2017. At UFC on Fox 24.
