Michael Shanks is a Canadian actor, director, and writer, born on December 15, 1970, in Vancouver and was raised in Kamloops, British Columbia. He had two brothers as siblings and was very naughty in his childhood.
Michael Shanks went to British Columbia and was in the BFA Acting Program. He started his career by appearing in several stage productions and also served a two-year apprenticeship with the prestigious Stratford Festival in Ontario. Michael got his career breakthrough role as Dr. Denial Jackson in Stargate SG-1. He was highly appreciated for his acting ability in this series by both critics as well as the public.
Michael Shanks also appeared in both direct-to-DVD Stargate films which were released in 2008, Stargate: The Ark of truth and Stargate: Continuum and won the 2009 Leo Award for Lead Performance by a Male in a feature Length Drama for Continuum. Apart from this, in 2001, he also starred in one of the episodes on the Sci-Fi series Andromeda as a guest .
Michael Shanks had a number of roles in few movies like Suspicious River, Suddenly Naked, Door to Door, All Around The Town. Likewise, also did a couple of guest appearances on TV show such as Sedgwick, Outer Limits, Sumuru and so on. In the year 2006, Michael along with co-star and friend Christopher Judge formed a production house named Slacktwaddle Productions. Their first production was the Women of Sci-Fi calendar in 2007 followed by Men of Sci-Fi in 2008.
Michael Shanks has a beautiful daughter named Tatiana from his previous relationship with actress and model Vaitiare Bandera. On 2nd August 2003, Michael married another beautiful actress Lexa Doig. Michael and Lexa met in 2001 while guest starring in the Sci-Fi series Andromeda. Coincidently, their role was of two androids who fell in love with each other.
The couple has two beautiful children together: son Samuel David Shanks and daughter Mia Tabitha Shanks. Michael loves playing ice-hockey, and once considered playing professionally. He also displayed his aptitude for the sport in the TV movie Under the Mistletoe, where he played the role of a school hockey coach. His interest in the hockey was also highlighted in another movie entitled Mr. Hockey: The Gordie Howe Story.
