Matt was born as Matthew Paul "Matt" Walsh was born on October 13, 1964, in Chicago, to parents, Dick and Audrey Walsh. He has 6 siblings and is fourth among them. Walsh spent most of his childhood days in Chicago.

He has a keen interest in entering the Hollywood arena. He was funny and had a quick wit thus he decided to take up comedy as his career and become a comedian.

He went on to attend Hinsdale South High School and graduated in 1982. While in high school, Walsh played on the football team as a backup tight end. Walsh then went on to attend Northern Illinois University, where he graduated with a degree in Psychology.

He began his career in 1998 as character Ted in film, Talent. He later worked in the movies like Martin & Orloff, Old School, Elf, Bad Santa, Starsky & Hutch, and Christmas with the Kranks.

His other works include School for Scoundrels, Lower Learning, Be Kind Rewind, Drillbit Taylor, Semi-Pro, Step Brothers, Role Models, Mystery Team, I Love You, Man, Cyrus, Due Date, Cherry, and Freak Dance.


He worked in the film High Road as a director and co-writer. He also appeared in other films including Movie 43, Coffee Town, Hits, Into the Storm, SMiranda6 Miranda Drive, Wild Oats, and Get Hard.

He has appeared in the 2016 production, Ghostbusters as Rourke. He has also been seen in many TV series as various characters such as The Daily Show, Reno 911!, Human Giant, Players, Nick Swardson’s Pretend Time, Community, Outsourced, Children Hospital, Animal Practices, MyMusic, Happy Endings, Parks and Recreation, Comedy Bang! Bang!, to name a few.
