Synopsis

Liu Wen,  a Chinese fashion model represented by The Society Management and based in New York City, is the first model of East Asian descent to walk the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show.

 Liu has walked Victoria’s Secret runway for several times. She is one of the highest paid Victoria Secret models. 

Early Life and Education

Liu Wen was born on January 27, 1988, in Yongzhou Hunan, China. She was born into a working-cla s s family and is an only child of her parents. Liu’s mother was very skeptic about her diet; she encouraged Liu to eat healthily, become professional and enter a modeling contest which she did in 2005 when she entered the New Silk Road World Model Contest. Unfortunately, Liu did not win the contest but was began working as a full-time model.

Career

Liu started her career at the young age participating in the several wramp walks in Chinese Fashion week. She eventually gained fame by working with Chinese fashion magazines like Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar. Liu was busy shooting an editorial in clothes designed by Karl Lagerfeld and Viktor and Rolf in September 2007, when she grabbed the attention of the international fashion industry and later went on to walk the ramp for both the brands.

Later in 2008, Liu was invited to sign with an agency and participate in Paris Fashion Week. Wen’s name became hyped up after that when she appeared in four of the fashion related articles for Chinese Vogue. In the same month, she walked the international runways for Burberry and Wen went on to close the fall Trussardi show held in Milan.

Wen then walked the ramp for Chanel, Jean Paul Gaultier, and Hermes in Paris. Liu Wen led the entire modeling industry by walking a total of 74 shows in New York, London, Milan, and Paris for the Fall 2009 ready-to-wear season in February and March of 2009 which still stays as the record for the most shows ever walked till date by an Asian Descendent model in a single season.

Then again in the spring of 2010, Wen walked 70 shows in the same four cities for ready-to-wear season. Wen then was booked way before the shows and thus became the second most booked model for the season.

Wen started to walk for trending brands like Calvin Klein, Dolce & Gabbana, Roberto Cavalli, Oscar de la Renta, Hugo Boss, Alexander Wang and also for H&M, Marni, Lane Crawford, Bergdorf Goodman, Diesel, Gap and Vivienne Tam as well.

For a single season, Wen has made a record of seven which comprises of DKNY Jeans, The GAP, Benetton, Converse, cKone, Barneys New Yorn, Alexander Wang in the spring of 2009. Wen has appeared in major Vogue editorials including China, Germany, Espana, Italia, British and American.

Wen has done editorials for magazines like GQ, Harper’s Bazaar, Pop Magazine, Interview comprising in the list, Numero and W as well. in the same year, Wen walked the Victoria’s Secret Fashion show making her the only women of Chinese descendent to walk for them.

She continued to walk for Victoria’s Secret for four consecutive years. The announcement that Liu and fellow modJablonskiski were going to embody the cosmetic company Estee Lauder was made on April 2010 which makes Wen the first Asian face of the company.

The New York Times featured Wen on the cover in March 2012 and was also dubbed “China’s first bona fide supermodel.” Wen attended the Cannes film Festival for the first time in the same year.

Personal Life

Liu Wen is an unmarried woman. She is currently single (at least publicly) and recently there have been rumors that the 29-year old model has married his long-time boyfriend secretly. These reports came from the Beijing Daily News.

After that, there had been rumors about her divorce with her alleged husband. And to top it off according to the petty rumors of October 5 2014, Wen was speckled with a prominent stomach bulge on Sunday evening over a romantic dinner from which people purported that she was expecting a baby.

Net Worth and Body Measurements

 Her current net worth is $7 million and is one of the highest paid Victoria Secret model of 2017.  Liu was dubbed by H&M as one of “The New Icons” in Spring 2013 for her widely appreciated street style. In August 2013, Wen went on to be induced in the Forbs list as the 5th highest paid model in the world with earnings of $4.3 million and a net worth of $25 million.

With that, Liu also became the first Asian to be in the top on Forbes’s list of the world’s highest paid model.  Wen also joined The Society Management. Models.com ranked Wen #3 on thw Top 50 Models Women list in August. Models.com elevated Liu’s status to “New Supermodel” in July 2014 which goes on to make her the only Chginese with that status.  Liu Wen stands tall at the height of 1.79 m and weighs 50 kg with body measurements 31.5-23.5-34.5 inches.

Social Media Engagement

Liu has attracted a huge number of fans. Liu is widely searched in the social media sites like wiki, liked in Weibo and followed on Instagram.

The American Vogue’s April issue showed that Liu has by far the biggest social media audience than any other model. 

But most of these are paltry hoaxes. Liu Wen said in an interview that she loves modeling but is also keen on trying a hand at acting and believes that the two professions are reasonably similar to one another. 

Liu is the first Asian model to make it to the Forbes annual highest-paid models list. Liu is widely liked and followed in the Instagram and Weibo. Liu was titled as “The Sexiest Model Alive” by Glamour’s magazine in its October 2014 issue. Wen also became the first ever Asian descendent spokesmodel for cosmetic company Estee Lauder.
