Fifty-six years old, Jon Meade Huntsman is an American politician, businessman, and diplomat. From 2005 to 2009, he served as the 16th Governor of Utah, and as United States Amba s sador to Singapore from 1992 to 1993, and China from 2009 to 2011.

After resigning the amba s sadorship in 2011, Jon Huntsman served in the administrations of five U.S. Presidents and was a candidate for the 2012 Republican presidential nomination.

Son of a Billionaire Businessman 

Jon Huntsman was born on March 26, 1960, in Redwood City, California, United States America. He is the eldest of nine siblings. He spent his early years with his father Jon Huntsman Sr. who is a billionaire businessman and philanthropist. Karen Huntsman is her mother's name.

Jon Huntsman's family left Washington in 1971 when his father became CEO of the Huntsman Container Corporation, famous for creating the ‘clamshell’ container for the McDonald’s Big Mac, at last transforming them into a multi-billion dollar company.

Jon Huntsman attended Highland High School in Salt Lake City at the age of 15. He dropped out of high school to pursue a musical career as a keyboard player in the rock band. After that, he acquired a G.E.D and was admitted to the University of Utah, where he served as a Mormon missionary in Taiwan for two years.

After completing his high school, Jon Huntsman moved to the University of Pennsylvania, where he earned a degree in international politics.

Political Career

Jon Huntsman moved to Taiwan in the late 1980s, where he served as V.P. for Huntsman Pacific Chemical, helping the company expand globally. After serving as vice-chairman of the Huntsman Corporation, he was appointed deputy U.S. Trade representative and U.S Trade amba s sador.

Jon Huntsman and his family returned to Utah in 2004, where he successfully ran to become the 16th Governor of Utah. In 2008, he won reelection with over 78 percent of the statewide vote.

2012 GOP Race

At the beginning of his career, he looked like a promising candidate for her foreign policy experience, moderate position on some social issues, and his fiscal conservatism. Time magazine even called to Huntsman “The Potential Republican Presidential candidate Democrats Most Fear”, however, Huntsman, failed to gain much momentum in his bid for the Republican nomination.

He was never able to distinguish himself from shallow moderate Mitt Romney, and could not attract the support from the religious right. Shortly after an upsetting third-place finish in the 2012 New Hampshire Republican Primary, that time he resigned from the race.

Jon Huntsman Jr. has been married to Mary Kaye, who served as the First Lady of Utah from 2005 to 2009. The couple tied the knot in a lavish wedding ceremony in 1983.

The couple has seven children, two of who the duo adopted. Names of their children are Mary Anne, Abigail, Elizabeth, Jon III, William, Gracie Mei (adopted from China), and Asha Bharati (adopted from India).
