Jimmy Connors was born as James Scott "Jimmy" Connors on September 2, 1952, in East St. Louis, Illinois to Gloria Connors. He spent most of his childhood days in East St. Louis, Illinois. Connors was raised a catholic. Jimmy had already begun playing tennis when he was below 11. He moved to Southern California with his mother to be coached for tennis. Jimmy attended St. Phillip's grade school. Jimmy had already won Junior Orange Bowl two times when he was 12and when he was 14.

Jimmy Connors began his professional career in 1974 when he participated in the Australian Open. Connors won the tournament. In the same year, he won the Wimbledon and US Open. In 1976, Connors went on to win the US Open. Soon, in 1977, Connors won the Masters Cup and WC Finals. In 1978, he won the US Open. Connors went on to win the WCT Finals in 1980. In 1982, he won the Wimbledon tournament and US Open. In 1983, Connors won US Open. Connors retired in 1992.

Jimmy Connors was engaged to Chris Evert who was a tennis pro like him. Connors and Everts engagement broke shortly. It was later known that Evert was pregnant with their child but aborted it without the consent of Connors. Jimmy then went on to get engaged to Marjorie Wallace who was a former Miss World. However, the engagement did not lead to a marriage.
Later, Jimmy Connors went on to get married to wife, Patti McGuire in 1979. Connors wife, McGuire was a Playboy model. Together, the couple has two children. The family lives happily in Santa Barbara, California.
