Early Life of Aspas

Iago Aspas Juncal was born on August 1, 1987, in Moaña, Spain. He was born in Province of Pontevedra, Galicia. He is Spanish by nationality and belongs to Spaniard ethnicity.

He has a brother named Jonathan Aspas Juncal who was also a footballer came through Celta’s youth system. He also has a cousin named Aitor who represented smaller teams in their native region.

Aspas' Career

He started his career from the local club Celta de Vigo in 2006. He made his first-team debut in the 2007-2008 season with the side in Segunda Division.

He played his second game for the club on June 6, 2009; he was brought on as a 59th-minute substitute against Deportivo Alavés. He scored both of his team’s goal in a 2-1 home victory being essential as it eventually escaped relegation.

He was loaned to neighboring Rápido de Bouzas at the age of 17, where he spent his penultimate year as a junior.

In May 2013, Aspas joined Liverpool and it was widely rumored that a fee estimated between £7–9 million had been agreed for Aspas to join Liverpool, pending personal terms and a medical.

He made his debut for Liverpool on July 13, 2013in a 4–0 pre-season friendly win against Preston North End. He scored his first as well as a s sisting Raheem Sterling.

He debuted in Premier on 17th August, providing an a s sist for Daniel Sturridge in a 1–0 win over Stoke City at Anfield.

Aspas returned to his home-country, being loaned to Sevilla in a season-long move and with a permanent three-year deal as a subsequent obligatory option. He made his competitive debut on 112th August in the 2014 UEFA Super Cup at the Cardiff City Stadium.

He recorded his first league goal for Sevilla on February 1, 2015, in a 3-2 win over RCD Espanyol. He was signed by Sevilla from Liverpool on June 12, 2015, as a part of the agreement between the two clubs and sold him back to Celta on the same day.

Aspas signed a five-year deal for a fee of €5 million. He scored twice in his debut for the club on 23rd September in a match against Barcelona that ended with a 4-1 home win.

Aspas alongside Michu was poised to be called up by manager Vicente del Bosque on December 2012, for a debut with Spanish national squad in an exhibition game with Uruguay on February 6, 2013, in Doha, Qatar. However, none of them made the final squad for that match.

He earned his first cap on November 15, 2016, under new coach Julen Lopetegui for the second half of the 2-2 draw against England.

He debuted in the international game on 24th March 2016, as he played the last six minutes of the 4-1 home victory over Israel for the 2018 World Cup qualifiers. He was included in the 23-man squad for the World Cup 2018, Russia.
