Icelandic footballer, Hannes Þór Halldórsson, plays as a goalkeeper for Danish club, Randers FC, and the Iceland national team.

He is elected Budweiser Man of the Match for his significant performances in the match on June 16, 2018. He has saved a penalty kick from Lionel Messi in n Iceland's first World Cup match that ended a 1–1 draw.

Early Life of Halldorsson

Halldorsson was born on April 27, 1984, in Reykjavik, Iceland. He debuted his career in 2002, with Leiknir R. football club. He played for other clubs such as  Afturelding, Stjarnan, Fram, and KR.

He signed Dutch Eredivisie club NEC signed a two-year contract in 2015. He joined Randers FC in 2016. He contracted with the club in a three-year deal on July 15, 2016.

Halldorsson's Career

Hannes made his international debut for Iceland in 2011, keeping a clean sheet in a Euro 2012 qualifier against Cyprus.

Hannes was considered the main goalkeeper of the national team, after appearing in all twelve 2014 World Cup qualifiers for Iceland.

He represented his nation at the Euro 2016.

He was named in Iceland’s 23 man squad for the 2018 World Cup in May 2018. Hannes saved a penalty kick from Lionel Messi in Iceland's first World Cup match on 16 June 2018 that ended a 1–1 draw.

Personal life

Hannes works as a film director when not playing football. He directed amongst other things Iceland's video for their entry to the 2012 Eurovision Song Contest. His employer before leaving for Norway to become a fully professional football player.
