Gueguen's life partner Alain was also born in France and was educated on a farm in Castel-Sarrazin. By the age of 16, Ducasse started an apprenticeship at the Pavillon restaurant in Soustons.

Guegen was honored with eight Michelin guide stars for his work in Europe. He is also the special guest in the United States and Italian versions of the popular show, MasterChef.
