Ghida Fakhry is a renowned name in the field of journalism. She has been working as an international broadcast journalist, news anchor, columnist/opinion writer and moderator for over 20 years now.

Started her career in 1995, she has contributed to the world of politics and is well recognized for being a Current Affairs Program Presenter with TRT World.

Early Life and Education

Ghida Fakhry was born on January 1, 1970, in Beirut, Lebanon. As far as Fakhry’s nationality is concerned, she is Lebanese and is of Arabian ethnicity.

Fakhry received a bilingual education (French and English) for which she got a French baccalaureate degree as well. She completed her master’s degree in Near and Middle Eastern Studies from the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS). She did her undergraduate studies in London.

Also, Fakhry did her second Masters in International relation from the Boston University. She is fluent in English, Arabic, French, and Spanish.

Career

Ghida Fakhry’s career started as a Political Correspondent. She was made a Correspondent for a UK based Middle East newspaper, Asharq Al-Awsat before she went in the world of television news.

Later, Fakhry became New York Bureau Chief and Columnist, where she covered the annual General Assembly meetings of the UN. Further, in 2000 she covered the 9/11 attacks as a New York Correspondent and Bureau Chief.

Fakhry has conducted interviews in Washington D.C. with U.S. Secretary of Defense, Donald Rumsfeld, the Secretary of State, Colin Powell and State Department and Pentagon officials.

In 2003, she reported from Baghdad and Kabul while she was with Rumsfeld during his first trip to Iraq. She also covered his visit to the Abu Ghraib prison.

Fakhry has interviewed famous personalities such as Muammar Gaddafi, Shimon Peres, Hamid Karzai, Evo Morales, Kofi Annan and Mary Robinson.

In the beginning of 2008, Fakhry started co-anchoring with Dave Marash for Al Jazeera English replacing Shihab Rattansi.

The following year, Fakhry teamed up with David Foster and co-anchored 12-hour coverage of the 2008 US presidential elections. Also, she was the first lady to be appointed as a Lead Female Anchor in Americans Broadcast Center in Washington D.C. in October.

Fakhry currently works with TRT World as their current affairs program presenter, she is also a contributor to the Huffington Post.

Ghida Fakhry became“Women We Love” by Esquire Magazine in October 2007. LAU magazine describes her as \ Arab news personality outside of the Arab world.'

Fakhry is strictly professional and keeps her romantic life away from the media. She is on Twitter, however, the account is not verified and she posts only news and politics related content. Anything about her boyfriend, husband or personal life is absent from her social media account.
