Gaston Silva was born Gastón Alexis Silva Perdomo on 5 March 1994 in Salto, Uruguay to mother, Patricia Perdomo.

Silva, began his professional career when he was only 16 years playing Defensor Sporting Club on 8 November 2011. He made his official appearance in the Copa Libertadores on 18 April 2012 against Club Atletico Velez Sarsfield. Altogether he made 29 appearances and provided 2 a s sists amid the Uruguayan Primera Division and Copa Libertadores.
He played a game in the Apertura tournament in 2011-12 Uruguayan Primera Division season and often started in the Clausura tournament leading the club to the final victory. He played 4 games in the Copa Libertadores and 17 games in the league.
