Emmy winning news anchor, Ernie Anastos is one of the reputed media personality who is active in the journalism field since 1976. He is best known for anchoring the news at 6 p.m. on Fox 5 NY WNYW in New York City. He is a Hall of Fame Broadcaster and has won more than 28 Emmy awards and nomination. As of 2017, every 21st of March is known as Ernie Anastos day in New York City.

Early Life And Education Of  Ernie Anastos

 Ernie Anastos was born on July 12, 1943, in Nashua, New Hampshire, the U.S. His birth sign is Cancer which defines his personality as emotional and sensitive who deeply care about their families and friends.

Anastos graduated from Northeastern University with a Bachelor of Arts degree where he is a member of the university board. He was a Phi Kappa Phi honoree at Northeastern. He earned an honorary doctorate degree from the Colombia University. He received a doctorate degree from Manhattanville College in May 2008.

Ernie Anastos' Career

Ernie Anastos started his journalism career as a newsman at 98.5/WROR in Boston, as Ernie Andrews. Later, he moved to TV and served as an anchor at WPRI-TV in Providence for two years until his departure in 1978. Then he was hired by WABC-TV and became an anchor of the 11:00 pm Eyewitness News broadcast. 

Anastos left WABC in 1989 to take an anchor position at WCBS-TV. Then he joined NewsTalk Television in mid-1994 but shortly thereafter he started hosting a gardening show on Lifetime, "Our Home".

He returned to anchor desk in 1997 as an employee of WWOR-TV and four years later he was back at WCBS as the lead anchor. But he left for the second time in 2005 after signing a five-year contract with WNYW-TV for $10 million.

At Fox 5, Ernie Anastos hosted the 5 p.m. and 10 p.m. newscasts. Later, he became the Anchor of the 6 pm newscast. He covered the  World Trade Center attacks and also reported the 45th anniversary of the Cuban Revolution. He hosted "CCBS Late News", "CBS This Morning", and was a substitute host for ABC's "Good Morning America".

Altogether, Anastos has won 28 Emmy Awards and nominations. He also earned a nomination at Edward R. Murrow Award for excellence in writing.

Anastos has a radio ownership on New York-based radio station WJKE. In 2012, the stations like WUAMWABYWQAR, and its translator W291BY, and WVKZ were sold for $1.2 million to Empire Broadcasting Corporation.

Ernie Anastos' Personal Life, Married, Family, Wife

Ernie Anastos is a married man, he exchanged vows with his longtime girlfriend, Kelly Anastos at an intimate ceremony.  The duo is together for a long time. They share two children, a daughter,  Nina Anastos (born on 1976) and a son, Phillip Anastos.  The couple has four grandchildren as well. 

Anastos was honored by New York City Mayor Bill DeBlasio on March 21, 2017, to have 21st March as Ernie Anastos Day in New York City.
