American TV analyst, Doris Burke is a working sports reporter and color analyst for ESPN. She is also working as an NBA sports analyst for ESPN. Before starting her career in broadcasting, she used to be a high scorer basketball player in her school's history.

Early Life, Education, And College Career Of Doris Burke

Doris Burke was born on 24th November 1965 in Long Island, New York under the birth sign Capricorn. Burke is American as per nationality and belongs to the White ethnicity. Her parents raised her with her seven siblings.

She was born as the youngest child among eight siblings and was raised in Manasquan, New Jersey. 

When Burke was in the second grade, she discovered her interest in basketball. She said,

''The love of the game is something I found [early on]. I literally picked that ball up as a 7-year-old and I have not put it down to this day.''

Burke was also in the ManasHigh High School girls varsity team and eventually became the leading scorer in the school's history. She used to play basketball aggressively just like a guy. As per her coach, Bill Rogers, she wanted to perform every move a boy did. He explained:

''She was the kind of kid, if she saw the boys do something, she wanted to know how to do that. I don’t know how many girls — if at all — had a jump shot. The boys did. So Doris would watch the boys and she would come to me and say, ‘I want to learn a jump shot. How do I shoot a jump shot?''

Her amazing skills helped her to gain scholarship offers from a number of colleges including Boston College, UMa s s, and Boston University. But she decided to join Providence College where she helped the college team to win Big East Women's Basketball Tournament twice and became a second-team All-Big East player.

Her skills helped her to become Providence's Co-Female Athlete of the Year. She also became the school's all-time career a s sist leader by 1987. After earning a bachelor's degree in health service administration and social work from the college, she started working under the coach, Bib Foley but left after her marriage. As of 2018, she was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame.

Doris Burke's Career, And Honors

Doris Burke began her career in broadcasting in 1990 in women's game for alma mater in radio as an analyst. The same year, she made her debut on TV at Bog East Women's games. She also worked in Big East men's games in 1996. 

In the late 1990s, she joined ESPN as a lead analyst covering the WNBA. In 2017, she became a regular NBA game analyst working for ESPN which helped her to be the first woman at the national level to a s sign the full regular-season role.

Besides, Burke became the earliest woman in 2000 to become a color analyst for a New York Knicks match on radio and TV. Three years later she also became a member of ESPN's top men's basketball team and worked for both ESPN and ABC Sports as a sideline.

Previously, Doris Burke is also the earliest woman to be a forecaster for Big East men’s games as well as the first lady to be the primary forecaster on a men’s college basketball seminar package.

''I just could not believe this happened. Drake turned around—my seat at game six was right behind him—makes a heart shape [with his hands] and points at me. I’m looking around behind me to see who’s there, turn back to him and then he points and he does it again.''

Drake again showed his love by wearing a T-shirt with Burke's face on the front and the words,'' Woman Crush Everyday'' at the press conference for Toronto's ''Drake Night.''

Their fans speculated that the couple is dating. The pair, however, has not confirmed anything.

Previously, Burke was married to Gregg Burke, an employee in the athletic department who is currently the Deputy Director of Athletics and Head Golf Coach at the University of Rhode Island. The pair tied the knot in 1989 after dating for months.

The couple shares two children, a son Matthew Burke and a daughter Sarah Burke which completed their family. The relationship did not last long and divorced for some undisclosed reasons.
