Deborah Findlay began performing with a stage troupe while studying at Leeds. She toured England with the troupe performing in plays, musicals, community theatre, and cabarets. She settled in London and joined the Theatre Royal Stratford East.
Findlay has had an extensive career on-stage and performed in many stage plays. Among them, her performance as Hilda in the play Stanley won her an Oliver Award and Outer Critics' Circle Award for Outstanding Featured Actress in a Play.
