Dania Ramirez was born as Dania Jissel Ramirez on November 8, 1979, in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, to parents Agueda Camacho and Daniel Ramire.
She was only six months old when her parents immigrated to the United States, after which she was raised by her grandmother. She joined her parents at the age of 10.
Ramirez has a sister, Denise Ramirez. She is of Dominican Republic nationality and belongs to caucasian ethnicity. She is 5 feet 4 inches (1.64 m) tall and her weight is 54 KG (119 lbs).

Dania Ramirez was only 15 years old when a modeling scout discovered her while working in a convenience store, and cast in a soda commercial. She then appeared in numerous other advertisements.
She then decided to pursue her acting career and thus, joined the Actor's Workshop in New York City and studied acting. She later attended Montclair State University from where she graduated in 2001.
Started Film and Television Career After Graduation
Following her graduation from Montclair State University, Dania Ramirez moved to Los Angeles to pursue her acting career.
In 1997, she appeared in the HBO film, Subway Stories, where she met director Spike Lee. Lee cast Ramirez in the 2004 comedy-drama film, She Hate Me.
