In the year 2011, Tarek and his friend made an audition tape for HGTV. His friend filmed an entire episode of the process of house flipping from start to end. Then, they sent the tape to call Christina, Tarek, and his friend to further discuss the film.
In 2012, they signed a contract with HGTV for hosting regular weekly program which shows the process of buying old properties and renovating it.
Before this show, Tarek and Christina were real estate agents only but after this show they became celebrities. Apart from this, they also run a real estate agent named The 'El Moussa Group', along with Tarek’s friend Pete De Best. They will continue their real estate business even after divorce as well.

Tarek celebrated his 36th birthday with son and daughter on Monday, August 21. He shared celebration via his Instagram profile. One day before, Tarek organized the birthday party in Buena Park, California.
The party was featured with a monster truck-themed party, attended by family and friends. But, his ex- estranged wife was absent from the celebration.
He explained to ET Online that he and Christina had a plan to hold individual celebrations for their son this year. He added: "We’ve been going through our situation and I felt like today, it might be better if we stay separated,” ET reported.
Before four days, Christina filed her response to Tarek’s divorce petition and requested joint physical and legal custody of their son and daughter, Taylor.
