Sheffield started her journalism career in Washington with Robert Novak. Later, she attended the editorial board of The Washington Times under Tony Blankley. She covered the President race, including an interview with former U.S. President Jimmy Carter at the D.N.C in Denver in 2008.
Sheffield has defended the Tea Party movement, writing that, “While a few strident Tea parties are guilty of fanaticism, Federal spending as a share of the national economy has risen under President Obama and would have escalated further under a Democratic Congress”.
