She was born on November 16, 1974, in Fridley, Minnesota, her parents are Robert and Kathleen Elliot. She has a sister Jamie and a brother Adam and her parents state that she pursued singing at the mere age of 3. Her family moved about too often and finally settled in Riverview. Michigan when she was in high school.
She studied and graduated from the Gabriel Richard Catholic High School and also took part in several productions of high school. For further education, she got enrolled in Western Michigan University whereby she graduated with a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts degree with a major in Musical Theatre Performance. Despite her education, she has to wait tables and also worked as a temp.

The stage combat theatre company Babes with Blades accepted her as a member and she was a part of the company for ten weeks. She performed scenes from Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, The Miracle Worker, and Heathers when acting there.
