Brett Grant Vroman was born on 25th December 1955 in Hollywood, California where he spent most of his childhood playing basketball.
Brett attended Provo High School based in Provo, Utah where he voraciously played basketball. Later he went on to pursue his interest in basketball by playing for UCLA (University of California Los Angeles). Brett was taken as a replacement of Bill Walton at the centre. While in UCLA he went on to play John Woodem’s 1975 national champ. He left UCLA in 1977 and went on to join UNLV (University of Nevada Las Vegas) where he played till 1979. In 1979 Brett announced that he was ready to be drafted in the 1979 NBA draft. Thus, he was selected in the fourth round as the 87th pick by the Philadelphia 76ers. However, his pro career began from 1980, not with the 76ers but with Utah Jazz as a centre in jersey number 52.
Brett signed with NBA’s Utah Jazz on 27th July 1980 as a free agent and went on to play 11 games. Brett went on to average 3.1 points, 2.3 rebounds and 0.8 a s sists per game. In 1980 Brett went on to join CBA’s Bilings Volcanos. He was waived off by the Volcanos in 1981 and thus went on to join Sapori Siena of the Italian league. In 1983 he began playing for Italcable Perugia also of the Italian league. He was waived off by the Perugia shortly after and thus he joined another Pepper Mestre of the Italian League. In 1985, Brett went on to join the Greece League’s Aris and in no time he was waived off. He then signed to play with Italian League’s Segafredo Gorizia. Later in 1987, Brett played for Italian league’s Wuber Napoli. Then, in 1988, he joined to play with Finland’s league, Torpan Pojat. He was waived off by the Pojat in 1989 which finally marked the end of his 12 long years with the European league.
Brett is a married man . He has two children named Jackson Vroman and Lauren Vroman.He later had a divorce with his wife. His son,Jackson is a Lebanese professional basketball player who plays for the Lebanon national basketball team. Jackson was picked in the second round of the 2004 NBA draft as the 31st pick by Chicago Bulls. He went on to play for NBA’s Phoenix Suns till 2005 and then for New Orleans Hornets till 2006. Jackson has also taken part in Asian Championship and has been named Most Valuable player in 2009. Brett’s daughter Lauren plays ba s s for Lithium which is a punk-rock group. Brett had a divorce with Jackson’s mother and he went on to remarry.
Brett is currently 59 years old, weighs around 100 kgs and is 7 feet tall. He is highly respected and recognized as a efficient basketball player. He was also named the NCAA championship in 1975.
