Ann E. Todd, 'Intermezzo' and 'Three Daring Daughters' Actress, Dies at 88

Ann E. Todd, a child actress in the 1930s and '40s best known for appearing in films like Intermezzo, Three Daring Daughters and All This, and Heaven Too, died on February 7. She was 88.

Her death was confirmed by her family to The Hollywood Reporter and as for the cause of death, the family told the outlet that Todd died of complications from dementia.

She had also notably appeared in Tower of London (1939), Destry Rides Again (1939), Dr. Ehrlich's Magic Bullet (1940), John Ford's How Green Was My Valley (1941) and Kings Row (1942).

Todd, whose father and ex-husband both were composers, played the role of a young pianist in the 1939 drama film, Intermezzo, directed by Gregory Ratoff and produced by David O. Selznick.

She portrayed one of Charles Boyer's children in All This, and Heaven Too (1940), starring Bette Davis, and one of Jeanette MacDonald's girls in Three Daring Daughters (1948). She has also played Linda Darnell's character In Blood and Sand (1941) when she was a child.

Her final on-screen role was as a daughter of Stuart Erwin and June Collyer in the ABC television sitcom, The Stu Erwin Show (aka Trouble With Father), from 1950 to 1953.

Todd was married to music composer Robert David Basart from 1951 until his death in 1993. He also died on also on February 7.

Todd is survived by her two children, Kate and Nathaniel, and three grandchildren.
