Paak was born on 8th of February to a Black and Korean family in Oxnard, California in 1986. He has three sisters, two older and one younger sister. His mother was from South Korea (half black half Korean), who was a farmer and later on went to prison with his step dad when he was around 17 and now, she is out of the prison and works with his elders and now she has completed her Bachelor degree and is thinking about her master's as well. His dad (African - American) was from Philadelphia who was in Air Force but was kicked out from there for weeds and later on he worked as a mechanic but eventually he was sent to jail when he was seven and the last time, he saw his dad, was when he was being buried. He began composing music since teenager. His first performance was as a drummer at his family's church.

In 2011, Along with working for his debut album, Anderson used to work in Santa Barbara but and in the same year, he got kicked out without any notice and him and his family became homeless. But Shafiq Husayn helped Anderson recover his financial problem by hiring him as an assistant, editor, writer, videographer and producer. His debut album and another album O.B.E Vol. 1 was released in 2012. He became drummer for the contestant, Haley Reinhart for the show, American Idol. In 2013, On November 27, Anderson recorded and produced Cover Art for which he was inspired by the white artists who achieved commercial success by remaking the song written by Black Blues and R&B singers. Cover Art was the reverse process where he transformed folk and classic music into a mix of soul, jazz, hip hop and R&B. Paak was a producer for Watsky's All You Can Do release in 2014. In 2014, On October 28, Paak released his album, Venice for the first time as Anderson Paak On Steel Wool and OBE as his previous albums were named Breezy Lovejoy.

This album includes songs titled Whatever At Fike (2010), Drugs (2014) and Miss Right (2014). On Dr. Dre's 2015 album, Compton, he performed on six songs and on The Game's The Documentary 2 he performed on two songs. On January 15, 2016, he released his second album, Malibu which includes songs like The Season/Carry Me (2015), Am I Wrong (2015), Room In Here (2015) and Come Down (2016). This album cracked the Top Ten of the Billboard Hip Hop Chart. In January 2016, he notified people that he is collaborating with Flying Lotus and On January 30, he announced that he has signed to Dr. Dre's Aftermath Entertainment. He has been anointed as the star student in Dr. Dre's. As NxWorries, they released an EP entitled Link Up & Suede on December 4, 2015. Anderson has given guest appearances with other performing artists in Do Thangs with Afro Classics (2009), Dreaming Out Loud with Mike B (2012), Sweet Day with Jose Rios (2013), New Days with Kush Mody (2014), Shifty with Mike Gao (2015), Glowed Up with Kaytranada (2016) and many more. He has worked as a composer in Watsky: Whoa Whoa Whoa (2014) and Glue (2015) and he has given many guest appearances in many TV Shows and TV Series like The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy Kimmel Live!, The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, C a vous and in TV Series Documentary, Le grand journal de Canal representing himself.

Unlike many other singers, his personal life has always been hidden. Not much information is gathered about his wife and his son. In 2011, he got married to his longtime girlfriend who is a vocal student from South Korea with whom he met at Musicians Institute of Hollywood. While pursuing his career in music industry, he also used to do side jobs like a drummer and even used to sell drugs to make out his living but after marriage, he totally dedicated his life to music. His first marriage was nullified and from his second marriage, he has a five year old son named Soul Rasheed. In 2011, he and his family were unexpectedly homeless but they got over it and now he has all that he wants. He has gone to world tour for the promotion of his songs.
