The multitalented Alyssa Jayne Milano, is an American actress, producer and former singer who is commonly known for her character Samantha Micelli on the ABC sitcom series Who’s the Boss?. Alyssa has been seen in many movies and TV series since she was the tender age of eight. Alyssa has also given singles and both studio albums as well including Voices that Care and Alyssa (Album). Lately, since 2013, Alyssa has starred as Savannah Davis in ABC drama Mistresses. Alyssa was nominated in many awards for her performance which includes Young Artist Award and Annie Award. Alyssa won the Teen Choice Award for TV – Choice actress in 2006.

Early Life Of Alyssa Milano

Born on December 19, 1972, in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn, Alyssa is the daughter of Lin, a fashion designer and a talent manager, and Thomas M. Milano, a film music editor. Alyssa does not have many siblings only a younger brother, Cory born in 1982. The family later moved to Staten Island after a neighborhood shooting.

Having grown up in front of the camera did not affect Alyssa in any way instead of in an interview Milano recalled having a loving and supportive family who treated her as any normal kid- helping in the kitchen and cleaning her room.

At the tender age of eight, Alyssa began her acting career, which started by winning a role in an open audition for a national tour of Annie where she pushed through 1500 other girls and became one of the four picked outs.

Alyssa Milano's Career

Alyssa thus appeared in off-Broadway productions and television commercial. Alyssa played a supporting role in a low budget independent film Old Enough. Alyssa just aged 11, succeeded in getting her first major acting role in the television sitcom “Who’s the Boss”.

Alyssa co-starred as the famous character Samantha Micelli. After she got the role Alyssa and her father moved to Hollywood. Alyssa was born and raised in Brooklyn but had trouble getting the accent right, as she earlier tried hard to lose it for roles in theater, including in a stage adaptation of Jane Eyre.

In 1985, Milano appeared in the film Commando as character Jenny Matrix, the daughter of John. At the gentle age of 12, Alyssa admitted that at times she was “freaked out “by the weapons on the set. The movie Commando was shown a year later in Japan and thus in no time, a producer offered Alyssa a five-album record deal.

Alyssa’s album that she illustrated as “bubblegum pop”, scored platinum in the country. Later, Alyssa appeared in the children’s film The Canterville Ghost in 1986.

Alyssa and the movie both did not achieve expected praise or attention. By the Late 1980s, Alyssa had become a well known Teen idol and sensation, making appearances in made for television teen films like Crash Course and Dance ‘til Dawn.

In 1988 Alyssa produced a teen workout video called Teen Steam and achieved some recognition outside the USA with her music career. Alyssa scored platinum in Japan but she was not interested to pursue her music career.

In 1991 Alyssa wanted to refrain from her acting career to pursue an academic career but was unable to do so due to her contract. So, Alyssa auditioned for the female lead role in an independent movie Where the Day Takes You as a homeless teenager.

Alyssa was given a small role of a prostitute in the production. Her viewers noticed her acting traits and in no time Alyssa landed in the controversial role of Amy Fisher in the high profile TV movie Casualties of Love: The Long Island Lolita Story. The movie was shot in the fall of 1992 and by then Alyssa’s role on Who’s the Boss had ended.

Alyssa was unable to pursue her academic goals due to the long years on set so she put in on hold for the time being. Yet again Alyssa turned her head towards auditioning for every film role possible for her age and finally lost her image of the nice girl by appearing nude in movies like Embrace of the Vampire in 1994, Deadly Sins in 1995 and Poison Ivy 2: Lily in 1996. Of course, Alyssa had to give many justifications for doing those erotic and explicit scenes.

Meanwhile Alyssa appeared in TV series as well including successful teen series Beverly Hills, 90210, she played the lead role in various made for television films , like Candles in the Dark in 1993, Confessions of a Sorority Girl in 1994 , The Surrogate in 1995 , To Brave Alaska in 1996 and Fear in 1996 as well.

In 1997 Alyssa starred in her lead role in Hugo Pool, which was her first movie released through cinemas since Commando. Alyssa stayed still for about 6 months and then decided to return to television.

Alyssa rendered as bad girl Jennifer Mancini on Melrose Place from 1997 to 1998. Her most noted performance was that as Phoebe Halliwell on the eight-year run of the popular TV series Charmed. Alyssa definitely charmed her way through this one as she was nominated for Blimp Award for Favorite TV Actress in 2005 and won Teen Choice Awards for TV – Choice Actress in 2006.

Alyssa and Holly Marie Combs became producers for the show during the season four. Alyssa gathered much fame at the time and was thus named the most successful and popular actress on the primetime soap.

In 2007 she appeared in many TV commercials including Veet and Sheer cover. From 2002 to 2010 Alyssa was seen in movies like Kiss the Bride (2002), Pathology (2008), and in My Girlfriend’s Boyfriend, which was a romantic comedy in which she plays a woman with a relationship predicament.

From 2007 to 2008 she appeared in the TV series My Name is Earl. Alyssa announced on March 20, 2009, that she was going to voice for Ghostbusters: The Video Game as Dr. IIyssa Selwyn.

From 2011 to 2012 Alyssa worked on the TV series Breaking In as character Amy, and then from 2013 to 2014, she appeared in Project Runway: All stars as a host and judge of season 3. In 2011 she appeared in the movie New Year's Eve as character Nurse Mindy.

She further alleged that the accountant forged her name to make bad investments in things like a parking lot. In the wake of the financial problems, Alyssa has put her $2 million West Hollywood condo up for sale and is actively seeking work.
